The biggest bathroom trends for 2021

Date

The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your home. Being one of the smallest spaces in the home, it’s probably also one of the best rooms to start renovating or designing as it will help set the overall theme for your home. Here are the biggest and best bathroom trends for 2021 that scream longevity rather than some fast fashion trends which could see your bathroom looking dated in no time.

Bathroom Trend 1: Custom Wall-hung vanities

Wall-hung vanities also known as floating vanities definitely made the list for 2021. There’s a good reason for this, wall-hung vanities look very clean with crisp lines that show off your tile of choice. Having the gap underneath also makes the bathroom feel more spacious. This is extremely important as often many bathrooms don’t have a lot of space. Another great feature is that you are able to run led lighting under the vanity for extra mood lighting or act as a night light. From a practical sense, there’s no concern about the overflow of water from the shower or splashing from the bathtub with the cabinetry secured well off the ground.

The must have’ it’ trend for 2021 is the natural oak custom cabinetry, which is beautiful, sleek and organic. This will have a WOW factor not just for this year but for years to come.

Other emerging favourites are Polytec’s Ravine range in Natural Oak, which gives you the effect of oak however more weatherproof.  Also making a comeback is v Groove! Cabinet makers have started receiving more and more requests for 2 Pac V Groove cabinetry with grooves ranging from 40mm to 100mm.

Bathroom Trend 2: Round and oval countertop basin

To compliment your on trend wall-hung custom vanity, a round or oval stone countertop basin will complete your 2021 look. Finished in a natural stone, these beautiful organic basins are not only timeless but bang on trend.

To customise, you could opt for a colour like dusty rose or powder blue. These will be striking but may not have the on trend longevity compared to more neutral options.

Bathroom Trend 3: Framed mirrors

Instead of opting for a built in mirror, select a beautifully framed mirror to install in your bathroom. Round and oval shaped framed mirrors were on trend at the end of 2020 and this continues into 2021. Choose between a light grey, black, natural timber or match with your aged brass tapware to complete the look.

Bathroom Trend 4: Freestanding stone baths

Freestanding stone baths have been very popular in previous years. We don’t see this ending any time soon! To compliment your countertop basins, a freestanding oval stone bath will complete your 2021 bathroom. To give your tub that resort look, finish with a beautiful oak bath shelf, our favourite is from an Australian husband and wife duo, Jemmervale Designs.

Bathroom Trend 5: Large format tiles

We have seen the narrower tile being used in the last few years however the larger format tiles are making a comeback and are forecast to be the most popular tile during 2021. Using the same floor tile to run up the wall is the look you will see more and more of. Think light greys for a luxurious, clean finish.

Bathroom Trend 6: Colours

Finally, but certainly not least COLOUR! This can be the hardest choice. Whether you are wanting a coastal or contemporary bathrooms, the colours to look at are natural, soft greys and whites along with oak. This colour palette suits a range of themes and keeping your bathroom in a neutral colour not only gives an illusion of a cleaner space, but it also widens up the space. Our favourite colours are Dulux Lexicon and Highgate.
